When I participated in Kuih Raya Project event, I have learnt to understand more about the plights of dialysis patients of whom I was once ignorant. I now realize that, without going through any dialysis treatment, these patients will have increasing amount of toxic waste collected in their bodies, potentially resulting in their deaths.
These patients suffer severe pains every day. They also have to go for dialysis treatments frequently. As a result, they find it very difficult to commit for work. To make situation worse, they have to bear a high dialysis treatment cost which becomes a financial burden if they are from low-income families.
As a student who has been volunteering for 3 years in Great Heart, I may not be able to financially help the unfortunates, but in many other ways, I can still contribute by volunteering myself to help them out and, to make them feel that someone really cares for them.
