Hundreds of visitors and nearby residents thronged the Great Heart Community Centre (GHCC) to join the inaugural Great Heart Charity Bazaar and shop for household items while doing good at the same time. Organised by Great Heart Charity Association (GHCA) to fundraise for their charity programs that serve the needy, the event saw visitors snaps up various household items that were generously donated by Yumiso (M) Sdn Bhd. Among the items on sale were cleaning tools, plasticwares, kitchenwares, decorative items, toys, accessories, stationeries, fashion items, cosmetic products, and IT gadgets, all of which were sold for RM 1 and RM5.
GHCC administrator, Angie Ng lauded the event a huge success, especially after considering it being a new challenge and test for GHCA to organise their very first charity bazaar. “I am grateful to all the volunteers and committees for their time and effort, all of whom worked tirelessly to serve the visitors of the charity bazaar. Their spirit made me moved. There was a lot of pressure to ensure the success of this charity bazaar and raise sufficient funds to support our charity programs as it has never been held in our community centre before. Therefore, the success today is a huge relief that will allow us to serve the various underprivileged groups under our care,” commented Angie further.
40 volunteers were on site to lend a helping hand in setting up the bazaar since early morning, although the bazaar took place from 10am until 4pm. Even more encouraging was the fact that some of these volunteers consisted of primary and tertiary education students. Also present on site to help out at the function was GHCA Founder and President, Franky See.
“Since we did not sell coupons but rather operate in cash, it is difficult to judge the number of visitors prior to the charity bazaar itself. We finally breathed a huge sigh of relief when the crowds started rushing in to buy the various goods on sale even under the hot weather. This proves that the people still have a sense of love and kind heartedness to support a good cause. Some even donated to us directly. I would like to thank all the visitors and donors today for making our Great Heart Charity Bazaar a success,” commented Franky See.
A total of RM 19,227.00 was raised from the charity bazaar, which will be utilised by GHCA to support the various underprivileged families, dialysis patients, and care centres under their on-going programs.
