Being a non native Malay speaker, malay was never my go – to language. If I have a choice, I would always prefer to speak in English or Mandarin. However, through my active participation in the Rakan Shopping event has truly enabled me to improve not only my Malay proficiency, but also made me realized that language is just a way to express what you think, but at the end of the day, it’s the intention and attitude that matter. As long as the person you are talking to can feel that you are sincere, however bad your Malay might be, they will still accept you with an open heart. For me, kindness is the best language among all.
